Beating stress

Feeling pressure? You're certainly not alone. Stress is a widespread issue. It is a contributing factor in 50% of doctor visits and causing a rise in stress-related work absences.

At East Bay Hypnotherapy, we understand the toll stress can take.

But what if you could rewrite your stress story?

Hypnotherapy equips you with powerful tools to manage your stress response. By accessing the subconscious mind, we can help you develop healthy coping mechanisms, build resilience, and cultivate a calmer, more centered approach to life's challenges.

What is stress?

It is possible to operate with ‘eustress’ (good stress) as healthy motivation.

However, in modern society, we usually operate in a state of ‘distress’, meaning we are motivated by negative reinforcement or perceived threat. This is because, although our lifestyle and technology has evolved, our reactions and understanding are still regulated by primitive brain circuits such as the Amygdala.

This primitive neural circuit is responsible for activating our “fight or flight” response and it is triggered by regular everyday stressors and anxiety. Since this primitive system only operates in black and white, these everyday triggers are misinterpreted as immediate and very real threats to life.

Physiologically and psychologically we enter a heightened state to deal with the source of the perceived threat. This automatic response works remarkably well in helping us to focus, work harder and hit targets in the short term. But in the modern world our stressors are constant so we live in a constant state of ‘threat’. This constant exposure leads to serious long term issues for mental and physical health.

We believe there is a better, more healthy and sustainable way to “get in the zone”.

Our three-step solution

  1. Observe

Realize that a healthy and balanced perspective has been lost. This is key and harder than you might think to realise when you are spiralling, or catastrophizing.

2. Regain

Regain equilibrium by using psychological techniques to combat and eliminate the physical and emotional threat response allowing you to address the cause of the distress with a balanced and healthy perspective.

3. Maintain

Maintain a healthy and objective perspective in the future by understanding what is truly important and what is not and how this relates to your passion and your sense of purpose in your life.
